Mountain Vista Fire District Opens New Fire Station At The Corner Of Shannon And Overton

On January 8, 2011, Mountain Vista Fire District was proud to hold a Dedication Ceremony for Station 620 located at 9310 N Shannon Road. The adventure began in the Fall of 2008 when  the Heritage Hills Fire District, the NorthRanch/Linda Vista Fire District, and the La Canada Fire District merged into one District…and the Mountain Vista Fire District was born! Shortly after the merger, MVFD purchased land at the corner of Shannon and Overton. The District broke ground on its first station  in January of 2010.

The celebration began with the presentation of colors by the Rural Metro Honor Guard and was followed by the singing of our National Anthem. Administrative Chief, Scott Butler, welcomed everyone in attendance and expressed thanks on behalf of the District for all the support from the community. General comments were then given by Chairman Peter Archuleta,  Chief James Stoltenberg of Rural Metro, and Paul Mickelberg of WSM Architects. Afterwards, The District greeted over 100 people during a buffet luncheon.  Those in attendance offered many generous comments in support of MVFD.

The Station consists of:

  • 2 ½ apparatus bays
  • a reception area
  • a Captain’s office
  • a Firefighter Study
  • 11 individual dorm rooms
  • a full kitchen
  • a lounge area
  • an exercise room
  • a separate decontamination room

The 11,500 square-foot Station was designed by WSM Architects and built by Lloyd Construction. The total cost for the Shannon Station was $2,980,000.
