Nancy has family roots in Arizona and relocated from California after an early retirement and has lived here for 8 years. She decided that she missed working with people so she started volunteering for her local library and was a member of community organizations as well and then decided to re-enter the workforce.
Nancy was hired on January 4, 2016. As the Administrative Assistant, Nancy is the first voice you hear either on the phone or her smiling face greets you as you enter our administrative office. She assists the Executive Assistant to the CEO/Fire Chief in the day to day clerical duties and some of her duties include answering phones, greeting the public, answering questions, providing information or directing them to the right source. Ordering and disseminating office supplies to our fire stations. Posting agendas for Board meetings. Dealing with local realtors to confirm properties are located in our fire district, scheduling the meeting room for use by residents and organizations of the District and providing assistance to all staff members as needed.
She has 25+ years working for municipal government. Nancy started in the city library as a clerk and worked her way up into the Public Information Office as the City’s Cable Television Coordinator where part of her responsibilities included working with all internal departments of the city, other government entities and all sectors of the residential and business community. Supervising and overseeing the day to day operation of the city’s state of the art government television studio and government cable TV channel. She developed a recognized volunteer program that provided accredited classes, training, experience and some job placement in the industry in exchange for their volunteered time working on various city productions.
Nancy also served as an elected official giving her a unique perspective on challenges that face both public and private entities. She worked with the Los Angeles County Fire Department both as an elected official and a supporter of Firefighters and all Public Safety Personnel and the challenges those agencies face on a day to day basis. She was a member of the Los Angeles County Bomberos Association a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide and support education, uphold core values, provide leadership development, advocate public policy and promote multicultural awareness. Nancy received the first ever award given to an Elected Official for her efforts in furthering outreach to other elected officials to raise awareness related to the job done by first responders and her work in acquiring much needed basic resources such has training and equipment for Fire Departments in other countries.
Nancy’s many years of experience working with and for the public and her love of people coupled with her respect for those who serve in public safety is evident in her welcoming smile and her willingness to use her experience to assist in any way she can.
